Here’s my painting from today.   It depicts the covered waiting area downstairs at Chicago Union Station south tracks.  This is where you catch the Burlington Northerm-Santa Fe commuter trains that serve the Chicago western suburbs.  Lately the trains have been all screwed up.  The reasons offered are various, but you do find yourself waiting around for your train to arrive, which is what this girl was doing.

I was looking for a particular work by Hopper and found your site by accident. I love railway stations and art that includes them. Your work is wonderful. There is that sense of being in a public place yet being absolutely isolated and alienated at the same time.

Thank you very much that’s very kind of you to say! I’m like you – I am interested in that feeling of being alone in a metropolitan area, alone in a crowd. I love Hopper too!
