Happy Friday!  Here’s my latest painting, depicting Eldora Street, Roxbury, in Boston.  My mom lived on this street as a child and my sister ran across a nice photo taken c. 1986-87.

Eldora Street is only blocks away from the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, better known as the “Mission Church,” operated by the Redemptorists.  I remember going to Mass there when I was a kid.  A bit of trivia: in 2009 the Mission Church was the site of the funeral Mass for Senator Edward Kennedy.

Dear Mr. Baker, Your images from Putnam County are wonderful! Is there any chance you would allow me to share one or more of your images on the Putnam County Museum Facebook page? I am the “docent” for the Facebook page and possibly other social media. Thank you for your consideration, Lisa Harris Mock

Absolutely, please feel free to use the images! I’m so happy you like them. If you would be so kind as to credit me with the images I would appreciate it. I will put your site up on my blog to let people know. Can you tell me which specific images you have in mind? I’m just curious. I love coming back to Putnam County. I spent a lot of time outdoors when I was at DePauw. There’s a little sandy beach right there under Oakalla Bridge and it was a great spot to hang out on a spring day.

Thank you! The specific images are Steel Bridge, Oakalla Bridge, Four Arch Bridge and Barn. I wouldn’t use them all at once. I will post a link to your blog and of course credit you. What years were you at DePauw? (Also, I love Janko’s Little Zagreb and Nick’s!)

1977-1981. Loved it! That’s actually where I started oil painting. I took an oil painting class taught by Robert Kingsley. Been doing it ever since. Thanks for posting my paintings. I will stop off and visit next time I’m down. Janko’s is one of my favorite steakhouses. 🙂
