Camille Pissarro, “June Morning, View Over the Hills of Pontoise”

11 Jul

Pissarro’s composition of June Morning is strikingly similar to many by Corot, featuring a country road leading the eye into the distance.  With its peaceful setting and soft, subtle tonality, the painting has a detached, almost mystical quality reminiscent of Sisley.  I love Pissarro’s handling of the sky and clouds — reminds me of Constable’s cloud studies.  This is one cool painting!
